an afternoon at max patch, north carolina

it has been strikingly warm here in the gateway to the west, making these supposedly first days of fall feel more like the caverns of summer. my summer thankfully was not so warm, tucked in the blue ridge mountains.

here are some images from one of my favorite days of the summer, twirling & wandering around the beautiful bald mountain of max patch. at times, the clouds would swirl & envelop our vista, leaving us to eagerly await their advance, unveiling the utter delight of peaks upon peaks, layering for days, it seemed.
